While waiting for the April 23 playdate of his Star Cinema comedy Pak! Pak! My Doctor Kwak!,
Vic Sotto shared that although he has not considered delving into other movie genres, he said doing a comedy isn’t just about making people laugh all the time. “Lahat naman ng pelikula namin, kahit na sinasabi na kino
it’s a comedy, there will always be dramatic moments rin. Kahit dito sa Pak! Pak! My Doctor Kwak!
, we have one dramatic scene here where everyone was crying,” he shared during the grand presscon for the movie held last April 7 at the Dolphy theater inside the ABS-CBN compound.
The veteran comedian, who is paired with Bea Alonzo in the movie, also said he prefers to do comedy because doing drama takes a bigger toll on him. “As much as I really like acting, I hate doing drama kasi mabigat sa loob eh. Yung tipong nakauwi ka na ng bahay masama pa rin yung pakiramdam mo eh. Lalo na kapag magagaling yung artistang ka-eksena mo tulad ni
Bea. Nakupo, mahirap ka-eksena kapag seryosong drama yung eksena. Mabigat sa loob
so doing straight drama is hard.
” he added.
The 56-year-old comedian said that he did not have a hard time working with Bea even though it was the actress’s first time to star in a comedy film. “Ang importante naman sa isang nakakatawang eksena is yung kung papano magre
-react yung artista
. So it doesn’t really matter if you’re a comedienne or not. What matters is that you’re a good actor like Bea here is a good actress. Not only good but a very, very good actress.
Bea, alam naming magaling siyang artista
so hindi kami nag-dalawang-isip na isabak siya sa
all out comedy. If you notice, parang ibang
Bea Alonzo ang mapapanuod niyo dito. Ganun kagaling artista si
she knows how to react to situations, lalo na sa mga ginagawa namin ni Direk
Tony. It’s more of situational comedy parati
, so yung
reactions very important. So mas effective yung eksena at hindi kami namoblema kay
Bea,” he stressed. Vic says that because of Pak! Pak! My Doctor Kwak!,
he is also looking forward to Bea finally guesting on his noontime show to promote the film. “Wala namang imposible sa magkakaibigan. Yan ang nadiskubre ko sa proyektong ito
,” he said.
Vic, who admitted that he is a John Lloyd Cruz-Bea fan during the presscon, said that he has never doubted Bea’s acting abilities and was happy to discover more good things about the Fil-Brit beauty after working together with her. “Dati pinapanuod ko lang sa pelikula siya
. Fan ako ni
Bea at ni
John Lloyd. Kapag nadadaan ako sa telebisyon, nanunuod ako. Siyempre yun lang ang kilala kong
Bea Alonzo. Yung ka
John Lloyd. Hindi ko naman siya kilala
personally. When I first met her sa isang
cast meeting, I felt comfortable right away.
or hindi mo mabiro, ganun. Pero si
Bea nakita ko na
she’s very down-to-earth. She’s nice to be with. She’s funny and she’s very intelligent. At marami pang iba,
” he admitted. Vic also shared that he is also open to the possibility of working with other top caliber leading ladies like Sharon Cuneta and Kris Aquino in the future. “Lahat naman sila
they’re all dream ladies eh. Lahat naman sila
star,” he said.
During the presscon, Vic also shared the secret behind his success in showbiz all these years. “Ang siniguro ko,
ever since, kahit nung nagsisimula pa lang ako bilang isang
actor or producer, siniguro kong wala akong makakaaway
or makakasamaan ng loob
. Or kung meron man eh madaling ayusin.
much younger days,” he said.
